Dear Dragon’s Dogma Escort Quests

Also these god damn Badge of Vows, number 14 in particular. I found that one, then proceeded on. Got jumped by a group of rather tough bandits and the NPC I was escorting died. No big, I’ll just reload. But wait! The game decided to autosave when I found the badge of vows. Half way down a water fall. With the only way back being to jump in the water, get “eaten” by the brine which kills NPC’s while I wash up on the shore a bit down the ways. And guess where it spawns the NPC when you reload.
Right beside me.
Yup. I now can’t reload without failing this escort quest. My only other option is to reload and lose about 2 hours of playtime, 2 regions explored, 2 chimera killed.
I am NEVER taking a diversion on an escort quest again. So much hate right now.
EDIT: I’ve just come up with the solution. Ferrystone, warp back to the capitol. Sucks to waste one but it’s the best option.
EDIT2: I had literally half a second to do anything before she fell and died, the ferrystone warped her with less than a quarter health. O.o

I only did 2 and that was enough. I took Selene to the magic water, and then I took Mercedes on a fucking 11 hour hike through ogre country only to have her die on me. Is she gone forever? I kinda of liked her character but OH WELL TOO FUCKIN BAD.
